Paula Curtis is an equestrian educator, lifelong learner, and the founder of Because of the Horse. She has devoted her career to helping riders build meaningful and lasting partnerships with their horses, grounded in presence, compassion, and practical growth.
From hosting international events like the Online Horse Fair to creating coaching programs and reflective tools such as this journal, Paula blends soulful intention with real world strategy. Her work invites riders to slow down, reflect deeply, and grow both in and out of the saddle, all because of the horse.
Raised on a horse farm and shaped by both physical challenges and spiritual resilience, Paula was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis as a child. She found strength and freedom through her connection with horses, sparking a lifelong mission to help riders discover clarity, confidence, and their own unique path.
Paula lives in Tennessee with her children and a beloved herd of horses who continue to be her greatest teachers.
